You are not actually borrowing money from us. Instead, we are purchasing a portion of your expected recovery from a settlement and/or a lawsuit. The transaction among you and Certified Legal Funding is not a loan. It is a nonrecourse purchase of a portion of the proceeds that you may recover. You are only required to repay your cash advance if you receive a favorable cash settlement or an award. If you lose your case, you do not have to repay the funded amount. The amount that you will receive is based on several factors, which can be determined only after we review your case. There are no fees for an evaluation, and you may begin the process by completing our free online application.
After receiving your application form, we contact your attorney to request information on your case. Once we receive the information, our underwriting department evaluates your case and determines whether to approve the purchase and the amount of the approval. Usually this process takes 24 hours or less. As soon as it is approved and the documents executed, we will forward a check to you, or transfer the amount directly into your bank account. There is no need to appear personally. Everything is being done through fax, mail, or email.
We receive payment directly from your attorney or the party who is responsible for paying the settlement (in many cases this is the insurance company). You do not have to pay any monthly payments to CLF. CLF gets paid only at the end of your case.
